It matters what you're looking for in a pet. If you want companionship and something to play fetch with, then a tortoise is not a good pet to have, mainly because it takes friggin' forever for them to bring the ball back. However, if you have a small living space and no yard, then a tortoise isn't a bad idea, and it's definitely low maintenance.

I've got a tortoise and to be honest, things were a bit boring as you obviously can't play with them like normal pets. So a few years ago I invented a game where I stand in the back garden and throw him as far as I can to see how long it takes him to come back, make him into a 'homing tortoise' if you know what I mean.
He's not back yet like......

Certain tortoises are great pets. Others are not. As with any animal you purchase you need to research what breed will work best for you. i own two tortoises and love them. they are easy to care for and very entertaining in the summer when they are in the yard.

Its not the most interesting pet but depends on what YOU like. Tortoises are very easy to keep, feed and so on. In the winter they hibernate so you only have them around during the warmer seasons (That's if your in UK). I kept them when I was younger and many people do. Good luck

Yes,it is. They are far from boring, they are very interesting. Remember there is nothing that is uninteresting only disinterested people. You can only buy from a licensed breeder of tortoises, so expect to pay quite a lot.

Yes,I would love a tortoise, but they are so expensive in the UK.
When I went to Morrocco last year, they were selling them for £2 each....had to think long and hard, and was very tempted, but didnt get one.
Instead I bought a turtle in UK and love him to bits

Sure...if you provide everything they need. The start up cost is not cheap though.
