So refreshing to see a real man who served in the military, whose son is in the Marines in Iraq, talking some sense from a position of experience and authority. Such a nice change of pace from the Vietnam deferment seekers, the National Guard dodgers, those "with better things to do" than serve.

And, boy, did he bring it. Can we get this guy on the ticket for 2008? I want to hear more. I want to see all the chickenhawks try to measure up to his clout when speaking about war.

Haven't heard that kind of thing since Howard Dean. What's it called again? Oh yeah, HONESTY.

Murphy,

I completely agree with you. Living in upstate NY, I haven't seen much of Jim Webb. I was very impressed with what I heard from him last night. As a democrat, I'm glad that my party is finally showing some backbone after years of taking it up the... well, you know.

It was the only words of truth i heard coming from capital hill last night! I would like to hear his position on Immigration which the doors need to be shut on & our employer & landlords be put behind bars etc! Your right these other COWARD CHICKEN HAWKS are to gutless to remind the sorry body of representative government if they fail the will of the people we will wise-up/rise-up & take mob action against the illegitimate weathy ruling class etc! I say we need to organize that threat NOW! Fascist capitalism is a game only the very few will benifit from i as a war time veteran of Vietnam want to end that reign!!! Thank you Senator Webb for pointing out the injustice of the workers & the poor tolerating the very disrespectfull wealthy ruling class & their puppet politicians who are supposed to be working and representing the legal citizens of USA!

hmmm a "liberal wacko"? he quit the repub party because of the iraq invasion and the way it has been handled. he quit as secratary of navy under reagan because of reagan cuts. he was one of the few that opposed arming and supporting saddam against iran.

I thought it was arrogant, conceited, despicable and disrespectful..

Oh,My daddy did this and my daddy did that and my daddy wasn't there to tuck me in and read me a bedtime story and I served in Veitnam and my son is serving in Iraq and blah...blah...blah."

Like he thinks that him and his family are the only ones in this country that knows about sacrifice, duty and honor,Oh and yeah he gloats about his son serving in Iraq but what does he want to do?
Senator Webb along with the rest of his liberal wackos wants to limit funding in the war in Iraq which means his son along with many other soldiers in Iraq will have limited supplies of their essential needs.

Yeah, big bad Senator Webb talks the talk while he cuts the throat of his own son.
