the skin contracts to keep all the heat in your body and keeps you nice and warm - like big goosebumps..... x

The CORRECT answer is that the normal nipple size depends on how much blood flows through the capillaries underneath the skin. When you're cold, the capillaries close off, reducing heat loss.

When they're horny, tons of blood goes to the nipple, therefore they seem puffy, when they're cold, the blood rushes away from the aureole, so that in comparison, the nipple seems to extrude farther out.
