I know I have already asked one BB question already but this one intregues me as well....

We all know that Celeb BB is designed for people with, shall we say "flagging" careers but both Jade and Shilpa's careers were at their peak. Jade was brought in with her "family" for the disruption they would cause (and also the ratings) but why was Shilpa there? Her career isn't flagging and from her talk of servants etc it doesn't appear like she needed the money or the exposure. Does it not make you think she was brought in knowing Jade and others POV on racism and she was intended to be a victim or at least expose hidden racism within certain people on the house?

It makes you wonder whether her agent is not a very very canny person.

What are your thoughts? Am I just a cynic?

Although Shilpa may have a great career in India and be known by everyone there, her agent probably thought doing the show would give her more exposure to a wider audience. Which didn't it?

Indian actor/actress don't make money like the actors/actress in the West. They were offering about something like $600,000 just to go on the show. Most get only $50,000 a movie. ( this is in convertions)

Also actress don't really get many parts after age 30 which is the age she is around now.

Third, it is very common in India to have servants and nannies to help out at home in the middle class. In the west only the rich have servants to help. The way the other people on the show where talking about servants they acted like she had slaves. This is a common practice in India and I understand when South Asians felt the other roommates where being racist of there lifestyle.

I think it is wonderful that hidden racism has been bought to light. I have two roommates and they are really stupid in the fact that they say hidden racist remarks but think they are not racist because they have a Indian roommate. E.g they pointed out a guy and said he was dreamy. Since it was a group of guys I had no clue who they were talking about. One commented that, " You must not go for white guys." Should be noted I am a big Brad Pitt fan.
