What are the benefits of using 'base' before applying foundation?

Using a base makes it easier to apply your normal foundation and hides any redness, blemishes or spots you may have.
First of all exfoliate your face once or twice a week to get rid of the dead skin cells. On the other days use a face wash or a moisturising soap to stop your skin from drying out. If you have dry skin on your face the foundation will not reach its maximum potential.

Make sure you buy the correct base and foundation to match your skin tone. A good foundation will blend into your jaw line.

First of all apply a skin moisturiser as this will make it easier to rub your base foundation in. Next apply your main foundation and add a light blusher to the apples of your cheeks. Smiling when you do this will make it easier.

Some bases have ingredients that illuminate imperfections that can give your skin a flawless, luminous look esp. if your having your picture or video taken. Plus, you'll have an easier time blending in your foundation and it (your foundation) would last longer.

the main benifits and the reason why i use a bodyshop base underneath my foundation is that it gives your skin a lovely glow!and if you have zits or scars or rough patches it gives your foundation something even to stick to creating a better finish, and lastly i find i don't need powder over the top because it creates a matt finish- so less of my make-up rubs off on my clothes x

the benefit that i know of is, in case you have blemishes or "nasty" scares on your face, base can help make them disappear and then obviously the foundation will give you a beautiful finish (so to speak)
