I wanted to work when I was 14, and couldn't find anything. But now that I'm 17 and employed by McDonald's (and no, they don't hire until age 16). Although I heard that some places hire at 15. You have to think about child labor laws, even if you did find work, you would have very minimal hours. You have your whole life ahead of you to work, to own a car, to pay bills, to do taxes, to be responsible, etc.

So why rush into it? You're at a very important age in your life (14). You should be out hanging with friends, doing fun stuff, and just plan being a teen. You should never have to worry about this stuff until you are at least 16. Then I would say get a job, and try not to rush into the adult life too fast, although I'm just 17 myself, I'm already feeling the effects of working, like trying to pay for myself and such things.

What you could try to do is get a hobby. I got two of them, I first started Civil War Re-enacting when I was 13 (even though that was a little young). I then got into making videos. There are all sorts of hobbies for you to do.

Just remember that your a teen and you shouldn't rush into working so quickly, you have the rest of your life to work.

Do what I do! I am a wheeler and dealer. I buy things cheap, then resell them on Craigslist or eBay.

I do that, or, even better, see if anyone has stuff to sell and sell it for them. Charge a fee. I normally charge a 20% fee, but people have offered me deals going up to 50%! You'd be surprised to see how many people do not want to deal with a garage sale and leave the selling in your hands.

By selling on eBay, you never deal with any people and with Craigslist, you send the buyer to your client's location and just take your profit.

There are so many pros, and almost no cons!

- Money. Lots of it.
- No fixed schedule
- Not a lot of work
- Never have to leave the house, except to ship if you use eBay
- Works your negotiating and business skills
- Makes good relationships with your clients
- Can leave good marks on a future resume

Most importantly:

- Plenty of time to relax and be a kid, without the stress of "work"

I've made LOTS of money this way and it's the greatest part-time job in the world, bar none.

some non-aguicultural jobs that hire 14 y/o's. It includes retail, fast food, department store, restaurants, etc. Most of these places don't hire till 16 and even if you do get hired, you'll only have 18 hr/wk on a school wk (3 hr/day.) On an non-school week, you could get up to 40 (8 hr. day.) You should start out with small jobs like baby-sitting, camp counseling, etc.

Being a paper woman is a few thing you're able to do at 14 yrs old. For a job including a cashier at a food market, you're able to desire to be a minimum of sixteen yrs of age. even once you turn sixteen in a pair of years, you will nonetheless want an identity (Indentification) card to instruct your age, and that they are going to do a background verify just to purely remember to can legally artwork i.e. having a clean record; no felonies or misdemeanors whatsoever. wish that helps!

They can be children, because as much as they would like to convince you otherwise, they are still children. Their job is to go to school and learn as much as they can..do their best. Other resposibilities include bike riding, playing video games, hanging out with friends, talking on the phone, and the occasional yard raking, dishes, or laundry.
