Contact your local art college, they'll have lists of all companies who are prepared to take on work experiences students. Its not always straight forward as you have to make sure they are insured to take you. You could also search for local designers, try looking in the small boutiques for local labels, the owners/buyers will have this info, and contact them directly. Its a cut throat business though, so prepare your self for a lot of negative responses.

By offering your services for free you should get your foot in the door somewhere. However, you may be the tea lady as opposed to being involved in the nitty gritty of fashion design. Make a good impression upon them, wear something you designed yourself - this may help get you noticed. Good luck!

hi i once had a freind who went for work experince at adsa headquarters it was somewhere around in derby she was studying for a fashion degrea.

maybe you could contact the head offices of some places and ask them weather you can watch and learn how they choose what goes into there stores and stuff.

i'd also suggest you ask other collages and stuff if they know of anywhere where you could go, if you was nearer to london i'd suggest you try and do some work experince at a magazine as there so into fashion and stuff anyway.

Look in the Yellow Pages http://www.yell.co.uk for companies that are related to fashion design in your local area. The website will give you contact details. You can either go through to speak to them, write them a letter, and give them a call, about your options, and what they can offer you.

Where ever you decide to go, there's a lot of designers in the UK, offer to volunteer or intern. People love people who work for free! Shows that you have true passion for designing.
