There are many ways to remember items.

If they relate to one another put them in categories. For example if you have to remember the number 2378906543 - remember the number as 23 78 90 65 43 this took you from 10 things to remember to 5.

Another category example: You have to remember 10 items such as hat, paper, picture, cup, pencil, computer, moon, dog, book and paint.

Put the items together in a picture in your mind. Think about a dog wearing a hat painting a picture while sitting on a book (that's 5 items). Put the other items in another picture in your mind. This way you only have 2 pictures to remember instead of 10 unrelated items. Use your imagination!

One more idea: Think of rhyming items together.

Remember this rhyme: 1 bun, 2 shoe, 3 tree, 4 door, 5 hive, 6 sticks, 7 heaven, 8 gate, 9 line, and 10 hen. Then plug in your items 1 bun can go with dog. Think of 1 bun then picture the dog eating a bun. 2 shoe, picture a shoe and think of paint spilling all over the shoe... 3 tree think of little moons on the tree instead of leaves ... 4 door Think of a door with papers taped all over the door 5 hive Think of a bee hive and bees are taking little books in the hive with them. 6 sticks - think of pencils as the sticks...

Hope some of these ideas help!

Good luck with your studying!

YOu have to put what you are memorizing into a context that you can relate to.

For instance, I associate years and dates with numbers that I know......phone numbers, anniversaries, etc.

For places, I usually try to associate a name of an aquaintance with each place......

Works for me.
