You really dont but should probably stay away from dairy products if planning on swimming right away as they are most likely to cause any type of cramp. Don't eat too much either or u will feel too full and tired for exertion.

Because your body is expending most of its energy digesting your meal. If you tax it by doing a strenuous activity at the same time, it will get tired quickly or cause cramps. If you're too tired or in too much pain to swim, you drown.

if ur just goin in the pool for fun ull be fine probably but if u just drank soda its a better idea to wait at least a half an hour cuz u could get cramps and trust me their not pleasant...anyways if ur goin in the pool for exercise or competition it is best to wait half an hour to an hour cuz u might throw up in the pool. i actually saw it happen...nice lol. i would wait at least a half an hour

although its just an old belief and modern medicine can't find any logic on it, i think it is better to follow that advise since swimming would entail a lot of movements of our body parts which may affect digestation of food on our stomach.. maybe the food would not be grinded as much as when we are swimming which could led to indigestion..

u dont...u can swim after eating too as long as u did not eat a heavy meal

you don't have to, but you can, usually a snack wont do anything, but eating before swimming sometimes causes cramps, and sometimes can make you throw up or something
