Good question, I suspect Man U as they scored more goals and had more international stars, also as pointed out elsewhere modern teams are fitter and faster and these days every team has a clutch of internationals whereas back in the late 70s/early 80s there were probably only a dozen or so non-Brits in the First Division (Ardiles/Villa, Thijssen/Muhren etc) so the overall standard would have been lower. Make it a Brits-only game and Liverpool would win hands down :)

The Liverpool teams of the 80's were good in that era. But todays footballers are more professional. They look after themselves better and the managers are tactically more aware. So the Man Utd team oif the 90's are much better.

Well if you include the late 70s then Liverpool got 4 European cups in 8 eight years during their domination, whereas Man Utd 1993-2003 only got 1 european cup.
Good question mate, but I don't see how anyone can say Man Utd when they've only won 1 european cup during the 90s.

For me, Liverpool's greater success in Europe tips the balance but I loved watching that Man Utd team play.

Man U. You have to play much harder teams in the CL, not just luck of the draw like in Liverpools day. Man U won the treble. Man U won more doubles. Man U face tougher opposition in the league than in their day.

im sorry but being a cold blooded manchester united fan i strongly say MAN U when we had the busby babes, but then the plane crash happened, but even in the 90's we still ruled, we had a lot of awards for the 90's! BECKHAMS goal from the half way line i dont think anyone will forget that!

United because they are much more entertaining to watch and play with style. Liverpool were boring. Also there were more "good" teams when United won it. As to the City fan, who are you to judge you "bitter McGoo" You wouldnt recognise a decent football team if you saw one.
