We are polite and say hello. Speak if we have to but other than that never get too chummy with neighbors as have own life. I have my social life work life and friends. Just because you live next door to someone doesn't mean you got to be best buddies. You dont want them knocking or walking in yur house anytime day/night for no particular reason. You better off keeping relationships with neighbors on a as and when req level.

No, not my new one. I've been here since 1991, so that's about 16 years. So I suppose she's not that New really. But no, I don't talk to her. Or her husband.
My last neighbour, before 1991, was called Sylvia Davies and I used to talk to her all the time - well, obviously not ALL the time - I also used to go in there every night and watch telly and things. She used to make me food on wednesdays (ham buns) and sunday's (hot dinners). I used to look after her cat Marmalade when she went on holidays too. Her husband used to make things in wood and grow veg and he could play the mouth organ, amongst many other things. He died in 1990 and she died in December 2006, just before her 75th birthday.
Oo, and about 2004/05 I was living in Chiswick in London for a bit and two of my neighbours were Ant and Dec. They used to come into the pub and watch the football with their mates. Needless to say, I DIDN'T go round theirs for ham buns OR hot dinners.

occasionally to one, never to the other.
one side only speaks when they want to and the other throw eggs at my windows and rubbish over the fence. I once found a dead rat around the side of my house which I knew where it came from as I heard them screaming about it the day before. I'd be much happier not to have neighbours, well not the ones I have anyway. so much for Love Thy Neighbour

Yes to one side, no to the other - don't really know one side. I live in a close and know the neighbours in the close, the one I don't know lives next door but in a different road. Been there three years and haven't got further than 'hello' - a little sad really...

We are friendly with our neighbours on both sides and across the road. You need to break the ice a bit more. The world can be a lonely place.

On the one side we took one of thier puppies so yes we talk and we go into each other's houses to let the dogs all play. On the other side I do talk to them. Not very much but yes I do. She has lung cancer and I like to make sure she's doing ok. I like all her family too that comes to help her out.

We never seem to talk to our neighbours these days! Apart from the ever growing cliche we hardly speak to anyone, and when a stranger speaks and says "morning" we think it is odd. Sad really what happened to community values and such!

Yep and I talk to strangers and invite them home. I talk to people on trains and travellers on planes. I'm a Kiwi, were a friendly lot, I've made fantastic friends in England just from yabbering to everyone.

No, I haven't. Never met him, either. It's difficult for me to have a conversation with many people, as I'm a foreigner in this country, and I don't speak the language very well yet.

She claps (Scottish for strokes) me when we meet, but I don't think she says much to my Dad. They get on fine, now. They used to have Car Wars over the parking at the front of the house. Now my Dad parks his car around the corner to keep the peace.
