What you need to do is pick a port that looks innocent like 40404 and open it up to incoming and outgoing TCP/UDP connections. If you use the standard ports some ISP's throttle their connection speeds. In my 3Com router there is a section called special applications I think it is that you have to go into.

Now go into your NAT settings and make sure that your router is taking all traffic on it's public IP address on that port number and forwarding it to your PC's IP address. Your PC's IP address is visible by opening a command prompt an typing ipconfig at the DOS prompt. You will obviously also have to set this port in the application, Azureus or uTorrent, as well and run the test to see if it connects OK.

If you are still having issues then disable any software firewalls you may have running or ensure that they are open for all applications trying to use that particular port that you have chosen i.e. 40404

If you still have any issues try placing your PC's IP address in a DMZ on your router and see if that fixes the problem, please note that this may well place your PC at more risk for attack but does help in troubleshooting. I would not recommend doing it permanently.

Please note though that having a 100Mb pipe, delightful though that may be, does not mean you are going to get anywhere near that kind of download speed. I have a 8Mb pipe but rarely get any downloads at more than 2Mbs and even that is rare. Though I prefer uTorrent because it is less resource hungry there is a column you can make viewable in Azureus called "Average Swarm Speed" I believe it is, As long as you are getting no warnings and your download speed is the same as or exceeds the average that is pretty much as good as it gets. You may have 100Mb but the guy with the file may only be able to upload at 256Kbps or a fraction thereof.

Hope this helps and apologies for any rambling.

Both of those bittorrent clients can automatically detect internet speeds, but in the options you can specify your connection speed. Download speeds are going to vary depending on who you are downloading the torrents from. For example, if you are downloadung a torrent from a user with dial-up, it will be slower than from a user with cable or DSL. Another factor is which port you are using to download. Port 80 is for viewing webpages, but I am not sure with the port for downloading though, you may not wwant to mess with the port settings, but let uTorrent or Azeurus detect it. Hope I could be of some help : )
