I have heard of this before but is it true? If it is what would they dream about?

Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight.

There are no visual images in the dreams of those born without any ability to experience visual imagery in waking life.

Individuals who become blind before the age of five seldom experience visual imagery in their dreams.

Those who become sightless between the ages of five and seven may or may not retain some visual imagery.

Most people who lost their vision after age seven continue to experience at least some visual imagery, although its frequency and clarity often fade with time.

If the people were born blind, they have no REM and no visual imagery; the dreams consist of impressions from the other senses -- touch, hearing, smell, and taste. If the people were sighted and then became blind, they have REM (if the eye muscles have not yet atrophied), and their dreams contain visual imagery -- but these visual dreams might cease to occur eventually

Of course but if they were born like that they may have dreams that are different from ours because when they see someone in their dream that person will not look like a human because they have never seen one.

Yes they can, they would dream about sex just like the rest of us. Or in my case, being chased by a snake wearing a red vest.

yes, we dream. but since we have no frame of reference to the visual world, we dream about different colors and shapes - kind of like an Iron Butterfly video, or how the Predator sees - but since we've never seen them in their physical form, we (or at least i) never know what colors i am seeing. i can tell what shapes i am seeing, as i can distinguish them in their physical form by touch.

Take care.
