Why do we pronounce "W" as double U, but not double V and we pronounce "M" and M but not double N???

Yes, the W looks like a double V, and the M looks a little like a fused double N, if that's what you mean.

But, no I had never thought of it that way. (pronunciation will be a problem)

no have never thought of that but we dont pronounce w as double u

I've thought about the "W" thing, but not so much the "M" thing. I agree that the "W" thing is a bit strange! Here's an interesting tidbit: Germans do pronounce "W"s as "V"s, and vice versa.
