Psychology is to study the brain, the body and how they either do or do not interact to affect behavior. Psychology encompasses so many different aspects that it's difficult to put it simply into just a few words, but this should get you through. Good luck to you in all of your classes!

Phychology attempts to apply scientific methods to the end results of the workings of the human mind. It uses observation to interpet what a mind is thinking and why.
Phychologists attempt to use this information to predict and guide others in helpful directions.
In this, they are much like priests, in that they claim to be able to know what is good and proper, and the best way to guide someone in that direction. They use a variety of drugs, rituals, and other mind control techniques to this end.
Naturaly, they will tell you this description is not 100% acurate, and will dress it up in more scientific terms.

Psychology is the inner workings of the human mind. It's part of your psyche, your mind, your soul, even your physical body if applied right. It is you, on the inside, and nothing more.
Unless your talking about the profession psychologist, then its simply learning the inner workings and behaviors of the normal human mind.
