if a little red x appears where an image should be it means that the image is no longer available (from its source) so you wont be able to see it

Are you an adult or a kid on parent's computer? If they have parental controls on the computer and it is say a porn site...then you are not going to see that without a password to change the parental controls.
If you are an adult, you could check your internet settings.Start>settings>control panel>internet options>security.
Try that. The parental controls would be probably on the antivirus/antispy program and I don't use parental controls, so don't know about that and depends on which program that you use.
Anyway that is what i think the red x is about...not sure.

Most of the time its due to the author of the site not typing the name of the picture file correctly. HTML is very picky about spelling, spelling counts. Other times the picture was not uploaded or the path is incorrect. Some times the host doesn't support the file type and it could also be that your browser/computer doesn't support that file type either.

Does it take position on all web content or very few? If very few, the most in all probability reason is the internet website. the picture that the internet website is attempting to show is no longer kept on the area the developer who created the area reported it become at.
