I'm 36 weeks and may get induced anytime now for medical reasons. I just wanted to know if anyone else went through this at this time and if their baby turned out alright. (And didn't require a trip to the intensive care unit)

i was induced at 37 weeks and my baby was fine...she weighted 8 lbs even. she is now eight weeks old and is very strong and healthy.....my biggest concern at the time of induction were her lungs but she was fine.....the doctor just prepared me in case there were problems...remember there are a lot of very small babies that are delivered before even 30 weeks gestation....i actually know a woman who has a boy (age 6) he was born very early that his entire ear was not completely formed yet but it continued to develop outside of the womb.....it is amazing what this little people can overcome.....best of luck to you!!!

Both my sons were early. One was 35 wks, and the other was 37wks. The 35weeker didn't go to the NICU at all. He was fine. The second one went for like a half day. He was C-sect. and sometimes their lungs are not as good because the natural birth process squeezes some of the gunk out. They are both totally normal and have no issues of prematurity. The 35weeker is now almost 5 and the other is 15months old. A friend of mine also had a 35weeker with no problems. They may give you the shots to help mature the lungs. Have they done an amnio to measure if the lungs are developed? Good luck and congrats on your new baby.

37weeks is usually the minimum at which most doctors will consider induction. It would depend on your history and the health of the baby, plus the doctor's decision of course. I was just induced at 38wks due to pre-eclampsia with no problems at all. A perfectly healthy baby. Your doctor may want to wait as long as he/she can for the birth. It's always better to go into labor naturally. And some woman don't lose the mucous plug, or never notice it. You could be dilated 1cm for weeks! Just breathe through those cramps and rest-----stay down as much as possible. Plus stressing yourself out and being tense will make those cramps even worse! Good luck!

I was induced at 36 weeks with my last daughter due to the concern cuz she stopped gaining weight. At 36 or 37 weeks the doctors consider it full term. But one suggestion would be consider an epidural because induction does intensify the labor and such. Not meaning to scare you but rather offer advice cuz I have been there before.

I didnt get induced, but just to let you know I had my 3rd son at 34 weeks and he weighed 5 lbs and 2 oz. He was breathing great on his own and was extremely healthy. He went home with me 2 days later when I went home :) Dont worry. 37 weeks is considered full term. Your baby should be fine.

My son came on his own at 36 weeks and he scored a 9 out of 10 on the apgar test, which surprised his doctors. Dont worry this far along there are very few complications babies have. Congratulations

I was induced at 37 weeks with both my girls because of medical reasons and my first was 5lb 4oz and my second was 6lb 8oz. They were very healthy and got to stay with me the entire time. Breast feeding was really hard though, they always feel asleep while I would be trying to feed them, so I had to bottle feed. Good luck and congrats on your baby!!

a little small 5lb7oz but other than that no problems we were kept in hospital for 3 days so they could monitor her blood sugar levels and temperature she was kept on the ward with me. but as i said nothing at all to worry about she is now a very lively 10yr old.
