Go to Tools - internet options and theres an option to delete the browsing history. You can also change the number of days it gets stored, or set it to clear when you close the browser.
And Ccleaner does a fine job!

Get CCleaner, a shareware program, that will remove most of the junk from the internet that is lurking around on your machine

First.

Download adaware and run a scan.

Then download AVG and run a scan>
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10596553.html?tag=lst-0-1

Then goto: internet explorer/tools/internet options and delete cookies as well as files and make sure your settings slide bar is at least 50%.

Delete history as well.

if you mean in the drop down menu then just highlight what you want to delete and hit delete on your keyboard.
