I've written one novel, rewritten it, and started two others. My first novel is part of a series that covers individual patients in a psychiatric hospital, and how they came to end up there. Since I went to college for psychology (grad and undergrad) I am hoping it lends credibility to my writing. The first novel illustrates a man that suffers a brief psychotic episode losing everything he had in a 24 hour period-he even suffers from hallucinations, sharing dialog with a seagull whom he believes is following him. The second novel is about Claire, another resident of the hospital, whom bears a terrifying resemblance to Susan Smith (the american woman who drown her children in a lake then said she was car jacked.) Well, that's what I'm up to. I feel like I have 100 more stories inside and write everyday. I just need a foot in the door with an agent. I have the writers market and am working on a query letter - how do I copyright this as well? Thanks for any advice out there!

Hi there:
I have written and self published two books. I will give you info on who to try but would ask you please let me know how you make out with them. Go to New York Literary Agency on your browser. They ask you for info and say they will reply in two days. They Do! If interested in your work they ask you to send a manuscript by email and show you how to do this. They then promise to get back to you in two weeks and they again do. No others in the publishing game do this. With most it takes two years if you even get a reply at all. They are not self publishing pushers. Hope this helps and again, let me know how you make out. Wayne The Vagabond Writer www.wizeoldphart.com

I real publisher will not charge you to publish your work; they will pay you. Submit copies of your manuscript to all the major publishing houses, and keep at it. An agent is not necessary, but can help you get your foot in the door. Do a search for "literary agents" in your area. That's the only way to do it.

On the other hand, if you just want your work produced into book format, go with one of the other places as listed. They will charge you rates depending on how many copies you want. Know that this is NOT the same as being published - this is essentially having someone just print and bind your work...something you could almost do yourself.

I think you have to have an agent and stuff to get published. BUT there are places that do a print on demand. They will print your novel and you can order however many you want to be printed. But you have to do your own legwork as far as promotion and advertising and getting your book in stores. I had a friend get a couple books published by a company called Publish America. It's probably not the most profitable way to go but at least it would get your foot in the door.

Go to the link below. LULU is an excellent publishing service; good work, reasonable prices. I published my memoirs through them.

You can even order only ONE copy if you like!
