i just want to say this....about The Departed...I really liked the movie but I noticed a lot of continuity errors which really distracted me....I am not a very observant person either, so these things to someone else were probably so annoying......for instance....one scene Leo has a cigarettte and the next second in another shot no cigarette....then the tissue box kleenex up then down then up....sweaty in one shot not in the next....necklace inside shirt next shot not.....it was way to distracting ..i just thought that it was careless...

I once heard Roger Ebert describe it this way. It's not a matter of "BEST" Actress or "BEST" Editing....it's a matter of "MOST"
Who has done the "MOST" acting in their role? Which movie has the "MOST" film editing or the "MOST" cinematography? And that theory is pretty consistent with how the Academy tends to vote.
As for Babel - I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the acting was excellent & the story was interesting. Overall the movie was done well. However, my personal favorite for the year was The Departed. That is the best movie I have seen in a long time. And Scorsese's best since Goodfellas.

"The people who vote are members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In the nomination process, actors nominate actors, directors nominate directors, writers nominate writers, and so on. But everyone gets to vote for the final awards."
