The ports, etc are not determined by the version of Windows you are using, but by the firewall you have. Since Millenium had no firewall, all of it ports would always be open for file downloads. But it also means that all of its ports are open for viruses, hacker attacks, spyware, worms, etc.

Windows Millenium was probably the worst version of Windows made. I would NOT switch to it in the hope of get a 1% increase in Torrent downloads. For home use, absolutely go with Windows XP. Upgrade to SP2 for the improved Windows Firewall and you will get the best balance between speed and protection possible without going to a 3rd party apllication.

FREE, and uses the current hardware resources, GNU/Linux, will run upto 50X faster and is immune to all the "114,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions".

GNU/Linux is a genuine concurrent multi-tasking, multi-processing, OS that comes with thousands of free games, programs, applications, Office Suites, Browers, science programs, and more.

Contains the best, no DRM, "no back doors, no trackers" frostwire!

And, it runs in the CDrom, and boots in a virtual RAM "disc", finds all the hardware on the way.
