Seriously...For millions of years, the water erodes rocks in the ocean which contain minerals including sodium and chlorine and the other basic components of sea salt. They combine in the water and...there they are.

tabulator is right. Also, the reason rivers and lakes etc are not salty: All the "salt" is washed to the sea, and doesn't build up. Thats why the dead sea is as salty as it is. Salt doesn't go anywhere. Only way that water leaves is by evaporation!
