On my new Sony Ericsson K800i, in the top left hand corner of the screen (next to the reception bars) every-so-often there's a symbol that's sort of blue & white, and looks a bit like either white sand or a few slightly thawed scoops of lemon sorbet. What is it? Is seems to come on and off at random times. Can't find it in the manual so please help. I need to know I'm not being charged a ridiculous amount daily.

The white box with "Blue rings" inside means that you are in 3G coverage area(3 Network). Without that, you are back in 2.5G coverage area.

You can turn this off if you wish to. Go to 'Settings' and choose 'Connectivity'. Then select 'Mobile Networks'. Go down to 'GSM/3G networks', then choose the 'GSM only' option.

It is the 3G symbol. If itt goes on and off, it will most likely be because your handset is set to use both GSM and 3G, but a 2G sim only registers to 2G.

Sounds like the bluetooth icon. Go to connectivity or bluetooth and check if it is open, If it is switch it off , it is safer not to leave it open when not in use.
