Tell the watchman that you want to introduce your pug to the Shepard. Ask him to put King on a leash just as a precaution. Then, bring your pug to him. A leash may be best so that both dogs can smell each other on their own terms. If the dogs don't get along, you can pull each of them back on their leashes. In my experience with pugs, they seem to be the ones growling and biting more than the big dogs. My aunt's pug, at about 10 wks old, tried to take on a full grown Husky. It was hilarious.

'adit', assuming that you mean a roughly horizontal entrance, not one that goes straight down.
