There are few who are quick on base in MLB personally i think Coco Crisp looks the fastest around the bases, anyone know who it is officially?

Gathright is the fastest from home to first, clocking an average of 3.85 seconds. Crawford and Reyes are about a tenth of a second slower than that, and Ichiro is right up there sometimes.

There's a discussion about it under the picture of Reyes in this article:

I think Jose Reyes is the fastest player in MLB. I still remember his 3 run in-park homerun. He hit the ball to centerfield, it bounced off the wall and the two other on base runners and him made it safely to the home plate. They timed it on TV and it came out to be 14.81 seconds so it took him 3.7025 seconds to get to each base. Also, he has 64 stolen bases last season which is the highest in MLB. If you're only talking in terms of stolen bases, then Rickey Henderson 'is the fastest player' in MLB. He holds an all time record of 1406 stolen bases but he also holds the record of being caught stealing (335). Among active ballplayers, Kenny Lofton has most stolen bases (599), but he only has 32 stolen bases last season. I know a lot of people say that Joey Gathright is the fastest plater in MLB but he only has 12 stolen bases last season. Stats may not say everything about a player's ability but it still does say a lot.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere it was Joey Gathright, now with the Royals, however, since he can never get on base it's hard to tell how fast he really is.

Based on the obvious factors like stolen bases and extra base hits I'd say Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, Ichiro, Carl Crawford, Chone Figgins and Scott Podsednik would all have to be considered for the fastest man in baseball award.

Unique question.

I know last year Cory Patterson of the Orioles was pretty fast, he was never caught stealing unless the pitcher picked him off or pitched out. Brian Roberts also on the O's isnt the fastest but they are both pretty good at stealing bases, the first tandem in O's history to steal 35 in the same year.

Tampa Bay outfielder Joey Gathright. He might be the fastest man in Major League Baseball, he once went 3.3 seconds from home to first on a bunt.

My guess would be Joey Gathright. You can't use steals to determine who is fastest, because many great basestealers aren't overly fast, but can read a pitcher with ease. Basestealing is easier with speed sure, but if you're good enough at reading pitchers you can pull it off with average quickness. I remember Rickey Henderson said something to this effect.

Defintley Chone Figgins. He's had 50+ stolen bases the past couple of years. In 2005 he lead the league with most stolen bases.

Nook Logan from the Tigers was the fastest in the Majors, until he got demoted to Triple A last season...he lost his job to Curtis Granderson.
