I mean do they let you just come in, pick up a book from the shelf, sit in one of those oh-so-comfy chairs and read?

Of course, a lot of people do. So get you a cup of oh-so-delicious Starbucks coffe, kick off your shoes, sink into one of those oh-so-comfy chairs and get the reading. Have fun! =)

I don't know about Barnes and Nobles but Borders do.

I've seen people at lunch time sit and read and put a yellow sticky note on the page they finished so they could start easily where they left of next time.

Ok that person was me.

Sometime the book gets sold and you have to start again.

Years in the past, I examine 3 books of a then 6 e book sequence through spending 2-3 days a week there for 2 months, waiting for my roommate to get off artwork. I did finally end up paying for the sequence, yet i'd spend 5-7 hours there, purely reading. i become allowed to herald water in a spill evidence drink field with out difficulty. those chairs were delicate as hell. Lol.

Yes you can. If there is a Books A Million where you live, you can read books there also. They have comfortable chairs and such also where I live.

Untill they kick you out.

I was reading through articles of various magazines once. I was there about an hour before they asked me to purchase or leave. I told the guy 'I read all I needed to'. Then he got mad and made me leave.

Sure, but unless you're a speed reader, you probably won't have time to finish the whole book before your lunch break is over.
