Not just yet, unless Iran's Ahmadinejad crazily takes aggressive action against U.S. naval forces now in the Gulf. The real tension between the U.S. and Iran are Iran's Republican Guard forces which are blatantly being sent into Iraq to help the insurgency kill American forces. Iran is going to have to back down and stop destabilizing Iraq or it will find itself face-to-face with the full might of U.S. military strength.
As far as the nuclear issue is concerned, it will take several to many more years before Iran's nuke capability will become a military threat.

I do not think that the US will attack Iran at anytime within the near future.
1. Although the relationship is contentious between the two they are still able to engage in a dialog.
2. The present US president has less than 2 years to serve and the US congress is full of his opponents so I do not think that anything will happen.
3. It would take a sevre transgression on behalf of Iran for the US to lauch an attack upon Iran.
4. The US military is pretty busy as it is.

The US has been attacking Iran for 50 years and maybe the question is when will the US stop attacking Iran?
We overthrew their king with our CIA and muslim clerics, yes Khomeni was one of them because he wanted to remain neutral between US and Soviets and Installed a Shahin the late fiftys early sixtys and moved our militry forces inot country.
At the time the reason was not so much oil, tho it was a bonus but becuse we could install our muclear missles to reach futher nto heartland of eastern Soviet areas.
The Shah and his secret police backed by US/Brit Intelligence and CIA partnered with politcal/ Industrial/ finacial interest, began a reign of terror on his own people with all the excess of wealth and brutality of Saddams ilk.
khomeni led a revolt that took country bqck from foreign interest. The captives were not innocents but were all part of those who were trying to profit under the Shah and doing quite nicely in their endeavors.
Teh new iranian treid to reopen dialogue with the wetern eurocentrics but a president from US made a dal to keep the prisoners until after he got elected andiranians complied.
Once the prisoners were home again the US went to wr with Iran an a ctual shooting war in which we destroyed their of shore oil platforms and tankers were shot up with patrolpo boats and one civilian airliner being shot down by US.
After that embarrassment we wn=ent tothis nice guy named Saddam and had him declare war on Iran and we gave him all kinds of nice new chemical toys and intelligence to help him win.
Fromm the sixtys until today we have been at war with Iran, with covert actions, using so called immigrtion and cultural exchanges as spying e=menthodesa dn employing so cazlled NGOs charity groups to undermine the leadership.
We bring Iranian defectors to US and train them and employ them in getting ready to occupy Iran.
So when will we attack them with our huge military?
When it seems we cannot kill their leaders by instigating internal strife with ours and now Kurdish helpers covert actions or allowing Israel to attack them and using it as a pretext for actual full out assault;
Thats when.

If we attack Iran, it will be nothing like Iraq. We will be on a mission to destroy, there will be no rebuilding or occupation.

The ball is now in Iran's court, they can either stop nuclear proliferation or suffer the consequences.
