The most common explanation is an ingrowing pubic hair, which will set up a local irritation and you may notice some matter coming out of it if you were to squeeze it. Quite often they clear up by themselves, but if it persists and is really painful then I'd be inclined to ask whether your doctor has a practice nurse that you can consult (it's really not worth bothering a doctor with in the first instance) and s/he might be able to deal with it. Or you could try an STD clinic - they deal in all sorts of problems to do with one's naughty bits, not just diseases.

If it starts to spread, or if it looks like a wart rather than a pimple, then you do need to consult a professional. Meantime, it's worth using a condom during intercourse in case it's transmissable.

Get tested for more than Aids. I would be asking if it is Herpes or Genital warts....it could be anything, but only your Dr. will be able to tell you. Don't self diagnose, thats the worse thing you can do !

It certinly sounds like an ingrown hair. If it gets any sorer or bigger you need to see your doctor as it could be infected. antibotics will clear up the infection and the lump will start to go down and the soreness will leave.

It happens. And it IS bloody painful!! If it erupts and doesn't heal, then it's serious (STD). Otherwise, just leave it and it'll go away. (It's more than likely an in-grown hair.)
