there's plenty of room we should have been doing it long ago or how about exchanging the money we give to just about every other county for corn they could grow. Biodiesel is the way to go it can be made from about anything even chicken fat this is where we should be spending our tax dollars for research

There is plenty of land that can be used in the USA to plant corn although when you're using it as a fuel you have to take into account that a bad season could account for more than 10 extra cents for corn at your local market, it could mean a steady rise in fuel prices. As for the availability of land we have plenty we could use although I think more research should be done to see if thats the most efficient option because if we wind out planting corn all across the USA then find a better fuel it'd cause a bad surplus along with using up resources that could be used on other foods or fuel types.

We are not even close to having enough land to produce the levels of corn needed for alcohol. This may be a supplemental fuel, but nothing more.

are you kidding-we dump corn and wheat in the ocean now just to keep the price up! there is so much fallow land that your taxdollars pay to go unused it is CRIMINAL -drive down I-35 from St. Paul to Dallas and see how much empty land there is -we have no excuse for not being energy independent -other than big oil and farm subsidies!!!

I'm afraid not, at best we will only be able to displace 20% or so of petroleum use without having an effect on the food supply.
