Why don't writers and producers of EastEnders try to portray a little bit of real life. It seems to me that for the most-part, the cast either spends the entire day in the pub or at the café. Few people ever seem to do a good day's work, so where on earth do they get the money to down a dozen pints a day? Also, why do people go to the café for a cup of tea when their homes are across the street? Why does every resident on Albert Square take his/her washing to Dot in the laundrette? Does no-one own a washing machine? ...and you're not telling me that the people that stand on the market stalls earn enough for the lifestyles they portray!

ha ha i love the way they arrive in the square with nothing and all they have to do to rent a nice 2 bedroom flat is get a job in the vic or the caf, like a barmaids wages will get you that in London. Last night scary shirley announced she was going to rent denises 'old gaf', she had to borrow money from her daughter to go buy mushrooms!! but fear not peggy gives her a job in the vic so phew, no she can afford the 2 bedroomed flat!!

what about when billy and honey needed a home, phil bought the video shop so they could have the flat above it and keep billy in fulltime work, how handy was that, no one even watches videos anymore. And does stacy really run her own business on that stall next to deano? i could moan on forevor and i love eastenders i never miss it ha ha!!

I agree with what you say, in fact my husband and I had a real up and downer about it the evening, I am the EE fan and he is NOT!

However to give the writers their due, its a matter of time, who wants to watch people at work all day?

They have to cut to the chase I guess to keep the story lines interesting. Its hard also to condense so much drama and story lines within such a small area, lets face it, HOW many folks have died violently in that small area alone. I would never move there!

With regards to the Laundry, if I had one just across the road, and Dot to oversee it, I would use that then my washing machine at home.

True enough I could not afford to drink as much as they do, but then if I lived in such a dodgy area and horrible house I would be driven to drink I suppose. Good question!

Think the only place that owns a washing machine is The Queen Vic to do pub washing.
I know what you mean about never doing a days work.
Several people seem to work but never for long. Also there doesn't seem to be another ethnic characters in the Square. When the Ferraras were axed they never got replaced.

what do you mean it's not real life.
I spend all day in the cafe going in and out of other peoples houses, and all night in the pub.
I haven't got a washing machine so i use the launderette. I haven't got a job but i can still get smashed every night, and when it goes all **** up i go and see auntie Pauline
you have gone and ruined my hole life now!!!

You have asked all the questions that I have always wondered myself. One more to add...... just how many bedrooms does Pat actually have in her house as with Shirley having recently arrived, there now appears to be 8 people living under her roof! Eastenders really is so far fetched now it is untrue.

Yeah, what does Bradley's Dad actually do?

And how does (almost) everybody manage to get a job in 'the square'?

I wouldn't want to live and work in a town that has the highest crime/fatality rates in the whole country! :-)

You seem to be forgetting that it's NOT real!! It is just a programme made for 'entertainment'. It would be even more dull if everyone stayed at home drinking their own tea and doing their own washing!!

Hi You mean you watch that crap,

I stray on to it sometimes and cant bear even one minute of it.

I have nothing against the actors, just the awfull scripts
I hate London , because of what it has become.

I live in France I prefer the countyside, Paris is much more attractive, but full of rogues just like London, and Eastenders
