I had this and I rang my insurance and asked if they had a prefered place for me to get it fixed, they gave me There choice the AA in this case, and as I went to them it did not cost me much about £25 or £50, if I had gone anywhere else they would only have paid out £300 towards the cost, £4-500
Mine was a Ford scorpio with heated front screen.

Sounds bad that does , Depends on your car model , the moire expensive the car the more the windcreen costs. Did you go through your insurance? Through my insurance to fix a minor chip/cracked windscreen using resin would cost me £10 excess to do wi autoglass For a new windscreen off autoglass through insurance cost me £70 excess Windscreens dont damage your no claims bonus either Sounds abit like you been skanked there

Autoglass can do this, but this is a pricey job. Used to be £300 plus change for a heated sierra screen 10 years ago.

Check your insurance coverage. You may be paying the extra $15.00 or so per year [yes YEAR it ain't expensive, sort of like the towing/rental coverage], which includes free windscreen replacement. It is usually in your comprehensive section of your policy if you opted for the good comprehensive.
So, then, if it is free, who cares who does it as long as the work is guaranteed.

Check your insurance.A wall fell on our car breaking the back heated window. This was fixed by the insurers.Whilst they were at it they did the front one as well which was slightly damaged. We paid £60 excess for the two! They have told us it will not affect the no claims bonus.

Ford job most other places don't do heated glass. Plus Ford does have the practice to do it right.

I would check what your insurance statement say as it may be cheaper to go to autoglass

Cheaper at a glass repair shop like Apple or Speedy. A dealership will probably charge you more as many do not have a glass specialist on staff and generally have to call one in...lesson I learned when my windshield needed replacement...
