would love to do that when we get to Australia, anyone know the price and is it cheaper to book once we land in Australia or should be book before we leave England.

I could not afford it myself but I have heard good things about it. While you are in that area see the Olgas, they are in the same park as Ayer's Rock and are just as good (I preferred them) and you can get some great photos.
Here's s a BIG money saving tip. Ularu village resort where you can stay costs a lot of money for very basic rooms and the food there, although good, is also very over priced.
On the road to the park (from Alice Springs) on the right hand side is a ranch place that has rooms. Stay there. You will save so much cash and the room is nicer and you get a cooked breakfast included. It's not far from Ularu village (about 50KM but that's nothing over there believe me). I can't remember the name of it but it is the only place and it has a BIG sign you can't miss.
I would take the balloon if you have the money - I bet it will be a lot of fun.

are you able to even try this, i didnt understand you may. i think of they have even stoped human beings strolling up it. i understand its approximately 7hours west of alice springs, so its no longer a outing . fyi
