i want to run a series of lights on one main wire around inside of hull, and i want it to be neat and tidy and water resistant. For two wires i would just solder and cover with heat shrink to insulate, but i dont think this would work with one wire in one end and two wires out the other end, the join would in a y configuation if that helps to explain

do the "Y" connection of wires with solder, heat shrink tube it, then (NOW HERES THE CAPPER) paint a few coats of "LIQIUID LECTRIC TAPE" (available at any marine store) paint a coat, let dry over night repeat 3 x....waterproof !

the Y configuration will work just fine...before you heat shrink cover the connection with a silicon caulk...let dry then use the heat shrink

There is no reason why this will not work, seems fine
to me . You are only talking simple lights and 12 volts.
not 100amp and 10,000 volts. They do make commercial
connectors for that connection , but if you are neet and shrink wrap
no problem.
