My grandmother always used to say this, whenever anyone coughed:
"It wasn't the cough that carried her off, it was the coffin they carried her off in".
Haven't heard that in years. Don't have a clue what it means though!

You must mean Mama Cass and it was a lack of cough that finished her off. If anybody had been strong enough to apply the Heimlich maneuver on her the improperly chewed sandwich would have popped out. My, my, my she could chow down and since she had a little boy she still managed to get it on and eat til she choked to death.
