Yes the German drivers license is valid in the USA for 6 months.

I'd suggest applying for German International Driver's License(to be issued for the U.S. - if there would be this option) which can be used abroad. Ask at your authorities about how to get one.
In California you can drive on your home-issued driver's license for three months as it goes along validity of your stamp in your passport. But dunno about Iowa

That's a good question I don't think you can...I came here form Italy in the early 90's and I thought I can use mine but they would not let me. Try calling your local drivers license facility, they should be able to tell you. You can probably get an international drivers license. Good luck.

yes you can in most states just search for the Iowa DMV on google or yahoo and they will have an answer to ur question and any requirements that may also apply
