It depends. If the person maliciously screwed you over in a way where they must've been thinking "screw him", you get even. Otherwise everyone including yourself will lose a bit of respect for you, and it will eat away at you how somebody slapped you in the face and you did nothing... just like they knew you wouldn't. I know first hand. The memories of getting screwed are now happy thoughts because I think about how I got them back.
If it was an accident, or the person is seriously sorry and really wants to make it up to you and swears it will never happen again... I'm a big softy, so I'll forgive them... but never forget. Fire only has to burn you once to know what it's capable of. Don't forget that and get burned twice. Stay cautious.

I try to use the forgive and forget method for most all situations but there are a few moments over my lifetime that the forget never really kicked in. Getting even? well....I have dreamed about it.

If someone I don't really care then I'll just forget and moved on. But someone who I care very deeply then usually it is hard to for me to forgive.Because I feel hurt and betrayed, but if the relationship or that individual is worth to salvage then then I'll try to forget just for my own good, but forgive it might take me awhile.Depends on if that person behave too. I don't get even, cause two wrong doing will never make it right.

I guess I am the type of persons who forgive...But I don't easily forget if it really hurt. I don't think of getting even.

i usually have a strong urge to get even, its hard for me to just take crap from someone and just let it go, i always think of all these bad things that i could do to the person then after a while that urge to getting even with them dissapears and i just end up forgiving and forgetting, i dont hold grudges.......but of course, this all depends on how serious the situation is in the first place. ; )
