Weren't they the fairies that the 2 young girls from Cottingley created and took photos of. For years people believed them and they had people from all over come and look for the fairies.

Years later they amitted it was all a hoax, but they had loads of people fooled, even photography experts. They had cut pics out of magazines or books and placed them in trees and on logs and held them in place with paperclips.

Hope this helps!

Cottingley is a pretty little village close to Bradford in West Yorkshire, the fairies were spoof and childlike imagination blown out of proportion.

Brain Froud has a beautiful book out, it's called: "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book". It's a good one for fairy collectors.

Liggy lee has pretty much hit the nail on the head. It was only discovered to be a hoax after one of the girls died of old age the other admitted that it was just a prank they were playing on the adults.
