Just use your grey matter! ie THINK.

When droughts occure,

Some vegitation ENDURE it by dropping all their leaves. This adds to the forest litter (fuel for the fire).

Some vegetation EVADE the drought by dropping seeds and dying. This adds more forest litter.

Some Vegetation go on through the drought but barely survive, theit trunks etc contain little moisture and so burn easily, even though "green".

So you have plenty of DRY forest litter that has not decomposed and dry live vegetation. The scene is set for a fire. Any small incident can cause a fire. These incidents can be a dry electrical storm, a cigerette thrown from a car, a branch falling on power lines and many other things.

The drought does NOT CAUSE but sets up peffect conditions for one to occur

Underbrush is the key problem--ask any firefighter. Trees are going to be able to draw moisture from deeper in the soil than the underbrush. When the underbrush gets dry, it'll go and go quickly. Even just a few weeks of less than normal rainfall will dry out the underbrush. After our bad fires here in 1998 [so bad they canceled the July Pepsi 400--one of the biggest events in NASCAR's budget; and shut down almost 200 miles of I-95 from state line to Cape Canaveral], the local fire department periodically goes to selected sites and has "controlled" [hopefully they stay that way too] burns to clear out the underbrush. Any place with lots of vegetation worries about dryer than normal conditions since it turns all the vegetation into potential kindling.

Wildfires are common in many places around the world, including much of the vegetated areas of Australia, 'veld' in the interior and 'fynbos' in the Western Cape of South Africa, forest areas of the United States and Canada, where the climates are sufficiently moist to allow the growth of trees, but feature extended dry, hot periods particularly in the Summer, fall, and in time of drought when fallen branches, leaves, and other material can dry out and become highly flammable. Wildfires are also common in grasslands and scrublands. Wildfires tend to be most common and severe during years of drought and occur on days of strong winds. With extensive urbanization of wildlands, these fires often involve destruction of suburban homes located in the wildland urban interface, a zone of transition between developed areas and undeveloped wildland.

I don't think droughts can cause fire, unless of course there's a magnifying glass positioned on top, under direct sunlight...Droughts, because of the dryness, coupled with strong winds can easily spread fires or wildfires though.

it's simplistic, no moisture and excessive sun causes a drought, and then everything is so dry that eventually based on the sun, glass laying around, or people's carelessness you get a fired stared.

the lack of water causes the underbrush and trees to die and dry out. The brush is very flammable when it is dry so it catches fire easily from things like campfires, matches, cigarettes, lightning.
