Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam also known as Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is the president of India and was elected on 25th of July 2002. He is originally from Rameshwaram. He has specialised in Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology and has made significant contribution as Project Director to develop India's first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle. He has also instrumental in the development of India's AGNI and PRITHVI missiles. He is fond of children and loves interacting with them and his focus is on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020.
