(although very strong evidence says we are), wouldn't it be wise to err on the side of caution? Is it safe to run an uncontrolled experiment on the only home we have? Why not support green technologies...why not DEMAND it? We know that emissions have a negative effect on human health (smog-filled cities have much higher rates of respiratory problems such as asthma, even cancer)...why is that not reason alone to look to other things. Not to mention the political implications related to our reliance on foreign oil. Think it can't be done? Brazil primarily uses ethanol to run their vehicles and they enjoy .90/gal ethanol prices, cleaner cities and minimal reliance on foreign oil. Brazil has offered to import ethanol to the US, but we have placed a 100% tariff on ethanol...so trade options don't look good. Tariff on oil you ask? 0%. It took Brazil 30 years to get to where they are in green technologies...why can't we at least start on the process?

Ethanol does not have to be made from corn, you know...it can very easily be made by the prarie grass that we have growing all over the Midwest--it actually requires no irrigation and grows like a weed.

The oil industry has opposed the theory of global warming and has basically dictated Republican policy. Prudence, caution and a basic respect for the planet are not capitalist virtues or concerns: only short term profits are.

I don't know any Republicans that fight the global warming issue.

After all, since even the Martian southern polar cap is melting, it's pretty obvious that something is going on.

And as far as ethanol, doesn't the diversion of US corn production lead to higher tortilla prices among the poor in Mexico? Don't you care about the starving children?

And which countries REALLY investigate green technologies--- has Brazil given to the world a more efficient solar cell? I'll definitely invest at once in anybody who can be productive and help clean our environment while still seeing that people in 3rd world countries are adequately nourished.

But I am a registered Libertarian, not a Republican, so I'm still worried about the coming Ice Age, and the death of the oceans and Silent Spring and massive World Starvation. All of which are just a little bit behind schedule...

I guess it is because we don't like to have things rammed down our throats... to me it's like rubbing a cats fur backwards... it's like a broken record over and over and over from the lib camp!
Get out of my head lib's "i won't let anybody walk threw my mind with there dirty feet"...m.g.
what about the volcano's in Yellowstone? if they blow global warming will be a moot point... we will all be debating this on the other side of the Vail because it will kill every living thing on earth!... so libs put that in your pipe and smoke it!

This is all propaganda. There is not proof this is man made. It could be a natural warming cycle. But lefties refuse to acknowledge the possibility they are wrong. I will admit I may not be right...

That is crap perpetuated by the liberal media. Not all repubs feel that way...of course a lot of other repubs don't overreact to any potential story that they can use to get votes in the next election, either.
