Workers on Apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programmes may be exempt from the minimum wage. Apprentices are only entitled to receive the minimum wage if they have completed the first year of their Apprenticeship and have reached the age of 19.

Apprentices aged 16 and 17 and participants on pre-apprenticeship programmes will be exempt from the new rate

During an apprenticeship, the employee will have to go to college, certain tools may have to be provided, and in basic terms the employee is learning a trade that will benefit them greatly once they have finished the said apprenticeship, the employer has to pay for all this, so the answer to your question is NO, minimum wage does not apply in an apprenticeship.

Minimum wage does apply to hairdressers, its legal and its law especially if she is now classed as qualified and especially if she is earning him money. Many hairdressers abuse the law by getting round it by saying that the individual is still training and under apprenticeships but a proper appenticeship in hairdressing lasts three years (and are quite rare) with qualificational papers at the end of it, or two years at a college for C&G, the hairdresser should then be registered with the hairdressers federation. ACAS will help you but another organisation called the Low Pay Comission are specialists in this field and can be rung on 020 7467 7207.

The federal minimum wage applies even for apprenticeship. The key here is that anything over 40 hours per week is time and half. The federal minimum wage is $5.15 per hour. And U.S. Senate passed the wage hike, it will go up at .50 cents every six months until it reach $7.45 per hour.

No. They are not an employee so wage requirements do not apply. Most are unpaid and if anything is paid, it is purely at the discretion of the person

Apprenticeships are to gain skills and learning experiences and usually last a specfied period of time, say, 3 months and most of the time it is for school or college credit.
