or is this just a rumor are gays finally going to be able to be open about their sexuality in the military?

Doubtful.Too many sexually immature men are afraid of letting gays be honest about the fact that they are already there serving. These sexually immature men need the forced lie that there is no gays or at least they don't want to know about it and so they want to cover their ears and go "la la la" so that they won't be able to hear the words "I am gay" which the official words for that is "don't ask don't tell".But the true fact is, gays have been there and are there and will always be there whether sexual repression and sexual immaturity prevail over their right to be honest about it or not.

it truly is something they are discussing. weather or not it will happen under the Bush administration or not is a totally different thing all together. i do not think he will evr let that happen under his watch. but the next administration is going to be Democratic. no i don't have a crystal ball to tell the future, but if you look in the past evrytime there is an election after a Republican president can no longer run or does not wish to run, the next is always a democratic prez. i guess we get enough of the republicans and need a change or something. i wish they would ban the republican party, but that will have to remain a wish. but as far as gays in the military, yes it will happen and sooner than most think. all the major militaries in the world except U.S. allow us to in their military. and if you ask the men a women currently in the military you will find that (in my opinion) 90% say it would not bother them one way or the other. but i think it should have never been an issue. what has our military been doing since the Korean war, fighting oppression. all the time they have been fighting oppression they have been oppressing their own citizens from joining their countries military and helping to defend the USA and the rest of the free world from tyranny and oppression. if our government is going to preach freedom to the rest of the world they need to satrt by letting all of their citizens have the same rights!

If they do abolish that rule then I guess it may be for the best. It will be left up to the person to decide whether or not they disclose their preference. Though that would also be up to them to protect their well-being.

For my other answer: What fun would that be if I can't have a secret affair with a Marine?

they should abolish it. Who cares? I'm not gay and I don't feel threatened, so I don't see what the big deal is.
