is it safe to take the benadryl tablets while pregnant?

Yes, it's safe in pregnancy. Used all the time.

I havent taken benadryl but I took Tylenol PM simply sleep, which is basically benadryl. I do notice a decrease in movement when I take it. It worried me but my Dr told me that whatever I take, the baby takes. And since they are smaller than you, they are affected by it for longer. Its not dangerous or anything, just maybe take a less of a dosage next time and it wont affect them as much.

better ask you doctor or call your pharmacy. but, for what its worth from me, its a FDA Pregnancy Category B drug which is "no adverse effects in animals, no human studies available."
