There seems to be people picking and choosing their favourite bits of the Bible to say 'no' (and some to say 'yes'), with others jumping on the 'paedophiliacs all' bandwagon, but if the childrens' real parents swung them from wall to wall when they're old enough to answer back - or perhaps even indulge in sexual activities, wht should they not be taken on by gay couples...or any who will give them love and attention.
Come on...due to the concern (rightful or otherwise) over the years, is it not true that the UK has the most stringent tests in the world concerning fostering, and I suspect 'difficult children' (who the so-called 'normal foster parents' are not too keen to take on) - even after the nightmares of the 70's are put into homes where they are in danger every day by housemasters either throwing their fists about, or turning up in the dormitory early in the morning with eye on wee Tommy.
If the carers - gay or hetero. have been passed, what's the fuss?

Anne - that was indeed what I was trying to say...I had noticed over the years kids in main cities (mixed-race, black and children - of all origins - who have been kicked from room to room) were seen as 'difficult', and as a result were sent to places not unlike the North Wales institutions, where they received more of the same, and the more timid some were, the more chance they would be sexually abused.

Goodbassist - damn...would want to defend your answer, but not too sure what your purpose was - to 'educate' or vex. I've also the Roman's and Leviticus' observations - the latter seems also right up your street. Was just wondering if British folk (who have not seen the inside of a church in yonks) will squeal words of the Bible in they see a gay/lesbian couple setting up hom next door to them. We've seen our surreal version of hypocrisy shown, concerning an 'z' rated 'star' in the current run of Big Brother.
Will there be men of the Cloth manipulating people through the populist media who can hardly think for themselves, let alone children?

Read another question regarding the same the same question, by someone called Zorro...seems the weirdies came out of the woodwork with the same old words like 'paedophilia' being used as 'defence' for not having gay folk foster, but there was an interesting answer towards the end...a lass called Heather said no, because the bairn would be bullied. Oh aye? Being at school can be murder whoever one has as parents - it's from then onwards when one would start to 'fight' and construct attitude that will see wee bairn through until early adulthood. Having gay 'parents' would be one of many 'ills' one would have to deal with.

The idea of gay couples bringing up children is nothing new.
If a gay father splits from a former wife, and she hands over custody of the child to her "husband," and he then takes on another man as his love, there's not much anyone can do about it.
Exactly the same if a woman does the same thing and lives with another woman.
I know multiple examples of children brought up in such circumstances, or by single gay parents, and I haven't noticed that the kids are all screwed up or disfunctional. In fact, quite the contrary is more often the case.
The simple fact is, we live in a meddling, politically-correct, matriarchal society, and the pople who peddle the myths and scares are always leaping from out of the woodwork; encouraged by the media, who like to generate scandals, "issues" and thus sell the crap they write.
As for the stance of the catholic church, what more can be said that they haven't acted out for real?

Although I think it is a STUPID position that the Catholic Church holds - with a view to Gay Adoption - is the law that that they're arguing about not also discriminating against the Church's beliefs? But that's just legal filibustering about one law contradicting another (and not superceding it).
I'm in TOTAL agreement with you that if the couple pass all the tests for adoption - showing them to be capable of providing a loving and nurturing environment - then it shouldn't matter that they be straight or gay. It IS supposed to be the welfare of the child that is paramount.

even with the very shown actuality that i imagine that is a stupid position that the Catholic Church holds - with a view to gay Adoption - is the regulation that that they are arguing about no longer also discriminating adversarial to the Church's beliefs? yet it really is purely criminal filibustering about one regulation contradicting yet another (and under no circumstances superceding it). i'm in finished settlement with you that if the couple bypass each and each of the checks for adoption - exhibiting them to have the ability to providing a loving and nurturing ecosystem - then it shouldn't count number that they be immediately or gay. that is meant to be the welfare of the toddler it particularly is paramount.

The problem is that the church thinks it’s above the law and above British democracy. I don’t think the Catholic Church should have any involvement in adoptions. They don’t exactly have a very good record when it comes to kids do they.

some one who cares for the child is important and if that is not the natural parent then the councels must look for the best parent available I think some times the rules can be a burden to themselves.
