When you can't find the right words, what do you do?

i try to be someone else, and look for the words that someone else might deem as "right". knowing full well that sometimes words simply are unecessary to express a point. i couldnt count the amount of times that silence would have been much more effective than my stammering.

If it's for a letter or an email, I'll just leave it for a while, and then try again.

If it's in a face to face conversation, I just tell the one I'm with I can't find the right words to express myself properly, most of the time between us we'll get there eventually!

I either shut up or I simply tell the person in front of me that I can't find any right words.

Curse, cuss, swear, use expletives, pardon my french, you know like a sailor? Truck driver talk, mom needs to wash my mouth out with soap, do I kiss my mother with that mouth? Bad words, words not found in the dictionary.

If you can't find the right words, just say so. It is not a sin to be inarticulate. Unless you refuse to learn as you go along.

I sing a song and try to find one that has the words I want to say in it. Everyone has come to know that when I sing something, it has meaning now :)

usually i continue speaking and tripping over words, often repeating the same phrase over and over again like an off kilter school boy...i have never used that phrase before, i like it.,..expect to hear it more often from me :)

I use the wrong ones and hope no one notices that I misplaced the right ones.

It depends on the situation and the person...I will say nothing...or write a card/note...or use a gesture...a hug.
