The only thing that drives people to say "abolish the green belts" is MONEY and Profit.
These people don't give a monkey's if your great grandchildren have no fields to play in, where they can see wildlife and the seasons change. I for one will be fighting them, WHO'S GOING TO JOIN ME?

No way !

All that would happen is that developers would use land less efficiently.

It is more efficient to provide public services to a concentrated urban area.

If we are going to free up more land - use it to build infrastructure like roads and railways - this would only use a fraction of the land.

No we shouldn't - there are plenty of brownfield sites which could be re-developed (if the Supermarkets didn't keep buying it up).
