Well, money-wise DC is a bit more affordable than NYC. NYC will offer you tons of things to do - for a price. DC will offer you tons of things to do - for free such as museums, monuments, parks, the zoo, etc. If you're planning to study finance, marketing or international business, then NYC will be a better place for you and your professional development. But if you're into international affairs, economics, politics, social issues, then Washington DC will offer you more possibilities in terms of internships and connections. Both cities are extremely diverse, so you won't feel out of place, but you will definitely have to make a decision based on other factors such as internship opportunities, connections, feasibility, money, etc.
Good Luck!

The nations capitol will offer you a wider variety of internships (which is very beneficial to your studies making it unique) and a whole lot more activities than New York because its surrounded by diversity of the people and the environment. From the national parks of Virginia and the Potomac River to the headquarters of the CIA, FBI, and the city life of Washington. You can do just about anything in this metropolitan without having to suffer from overwhelming traffic and congested streets full of people (Life in NYC). Whether you want to learn about history (DC known for its historic museums) or getting involved in politics, theres no place like the nations capital. The only thing NYC has in common with this metropolitan is its rich diversity (it gets richer there) and its a great place to shop (NYC is the shoppers heaven (unconfirmed))

NYC is your choice if you love meeting diversity and keeping yourself busy. it is a business and work life, unlike a typical college life, since NYC is the most expensive place to live in the state, so you find more people to study and work at the same time. new york never die, always on going, and have so much to do.
washingtonw DC is a city, but not as big as NYC, but it is more politicial and college, such as George Town university . you can consider it as well. it can meet international frineds, but not as much as NYC. btu you surly find more time to spend with college friends than in New york.
after i moved to NYC, it seems everyone is busy, and they can't really find time for anyone. living in DC may allow you to know them better. meanwhile, will you still able to concerate to school when you ahve so much fun?
