Liberals don't care and conservatives hate it.

Honestly, we're not ready to debate this issue - it's too complex and there are WAY more pressing issues for us to beat ourselves up with right now. Cloning's got it's ups and downs, and no matter how you look at it it is something that we will NEED to look at at some point in the future. But the technology is in it's infancy right now and we really need to get everything else fixed before we try to work on cloning. It's quite literally a non-issue at this point.

And to ranya j: No true scientist tries to play God(you could at least write His name properly, you hypocrite) as science is about understanding our world and making it a better place to live. If it weren't for science you wouldn't be washing your hands before you prepare food and you certainly wouldn't be complaining about scientists on Yahoo! Answers. :p

It will happen in my lifetime somewhere. Most likely, it will happen as a source of donor organs at first and eventually become full human clones which the human race will need to think about if a clone is a person, and thus has rights , or if a clone is a thing which we create.
