Why are women threatened by other attractive women?

Another question could be, why don't other women help and support women in the workplace to move ahead in their career's, or why are their so many different women's groups who have different agenda's.

Why are men threatened by other attractive men?

Sometimes women are socialised into needing to be competitive with other women. Sometimes this socialisation starts at birth. Sometimes, women do not support each other even in mother-daughter, sister to sister relationships.

Also, if a woman is constantly compared to other women in her socialisation process she may internalise that as an adult. If a woman doesn't have very high self-esteem or hasnt been taught self-esteem, then perhaps she feels threatened by a woman who societies percieves as being more attractive.

This issue is a complex one.

Why are men threatened by men with larger penises?

I suppose women feel threatened by other attractive woman are because men are very visual creatures. If your man doesn't like the look of you then you are somewhat screwed. Now I am not saying that men only look for Hally Berry's gorgeous figure, different men have different tastes in women. All I am saying is that men look for appearence first of all when trying to find a mate and they will notice, consciously or not, if something nice walks by.

I suppose also the reputation that men have as "permiscous beings" adds to the discomfort of seeing other attractive females. Perhaps women are just worried that they don't stand up to the other woman's beauty and their man will leave them for her.

This is actually a good question.
I think we as woman cannot embrace/appreciate another womans' beauty but only think of it as competition. Attractive people, not just women, are really given more attention and thus get thier way a good part of the time. And women, more often than men, use that beauty in order to achieve thier goal, whether they admit it or not.

I wouldn't say threatened. It's more inadequate. The so called "Beauty magazines" tell normal average women they are nothing if they are not stick thin. Don't go to all the social events or suck up other peoples butts.

I'm not. I like looking. LOL I just cant stand a woman, or a man for that matter, that doesnt look as good as they think they do. Some people can be very attractive until they open their mouths.

because we cannot embrace their beauty, if we could we ourselves would become more attractive...when we push beauty away our own beauty goes with it....
