Anyone has any suggestions on what to get for a birthday girl?

So after reading that quoted sentence, what is the best thing to give to make that birthday a memorable one?

just think of what your friend likes to do. You can take your friend to a great restaurant she always wanted to go but couldn't afford or see a play. It doesn't have to be a "thing" ... you can just take your friend somewhere. But you can also buy her something you remembered her saying she always wanted. If she likes music then get her the latest CD of her favorite artist, or favorite movie. And you cannot go wrong with chocolates...just remember that rule (unless of course if she's diabetic then that's another story)

Something that no one else could. I knit, so I often give handmade items like scarves or mittens to winter babies.
In my opinion, though, the very best gift for a close girlfriend is a night on the town with a digital camera. Go out to dinner and hit up a danceclub (or whatever you two enjoy doing together), take a few snapshots, and then the next day get the best pic developed and framed. Drop it off at her house before she gets home from work to remind her what a great time you had and what a wonderful, loving friendship you two share. It's relatively cheap, doesn't take up much space, and doesn't need to be watered - the perfect gift!

Believe me.
I don't mean u spend time just with her, but also FOR her.
Spend time to think up a memorable experience for her.
& then arrange it, making sure She & all resources r available.
When "It's the thoughts that counts", the effort will count just as much more.

Go out with her on a boat trip,, and make everyone there in advance and make a surprise birthday for her in the middle of the sea with all your and her friends :) that would be sweet,, with lots of flowers around

it is only the "thought that counts" when you are skint otherwise go all out and get her something fab, if you are skint then she will understand - a true friend will like whatever you get her
